- Photos of Canyon Lake flood of 2002: If you lived around San Antonio the Summer of 2002, you had an opportunity to witness something that had never happened in the 40-plus history of Canyon Lake: it overflowed the spillway, laying waste to the land below it and the Guadalupe River, and creating what is now referred to as "Canyon Lake Spillway Canyon", an enormous, several-mile-long canyon that appears to be up to 30 feet deep in spots. This site has some amazing aerial photos of the lake as well as a photo "tour" of the canyon, pictures of River Road, and a variety of other photos of interest. If you're familiar with the lake itself, the aerial photos will amaze you.

Founded in 1977, CCA Texas (then GCCA) has been instrumental in banning gill nets in state waters, establishing redfish and speckled trout as gamefish, building two of the largest red drum hatcheries in the world, and working to ensure adequate freshwater reaches Texas' bays and estuaries.
