Each and every Valentine’s Day I
recall my first Valentine’s Day with my ‘original’ wife, and the lesson learned
about what is important to a woman on that special day, and my first inkling
about a new phrase called ‘being sensitive’ that became more important and
better understood as the years went by. For Christmas prior to Valentine’s I gave
her a new kitchen trash can filled with modern conveniences such as a new potato
peeler, egg beater, spatula, frying pan – things we needed! Needless to say, it was not well
received! I thought I would make up
for my lack of sensitivity at Valentine’s Day by purchasing, and gift wrapping,
a brand new Singer Sewing Machine thinking she could hem, repair old clothing,
and maybe even make a few dresses saving her both money and the time to
shop. If she could have, she would
have placed that Singer in a place in my body that the sun don’t shine! These are items I
do not recommend to anyone, especially those new to marriage
as a thoughtful gift! But now that
I am ‘kinder, gentler, more sensitive’ to what women (and yes, even men) truly
want, I can suggest a new fishing rod with perhaps, a casting and fishing clinic
provided by yours truly, allowing them to accompany you on your next fishing
expedition! The rod can have all
the romantic colors of the occasion with an inscription of how much you love her
and maybe pin a rose to the rod case!
See, I have learned a lot about what women really
want!
This past Saturday (the
17th) myself and a goodly number of my customers had the enjoyment of
a seminar conducted by Capt. Chuck Naiser on the subject of water flows, effects
of the solstice’s, tides, wind and wind direction, high and low pressure
systems, all the conditions that may point you in the right direction when
searching for fish. For those of us
that want to bring our skills to a higher level when in our salt pastures, this
information is invaluable although complex, and when shared by a guide who keeps
meticulous records and has over 25 years experience fishing waters from the
Rockport area to the Port Aransas area, was truly appreciated by those of us in
attendance. Chuck has said he would
do another seminar here later in the spring – so stay tuned for time and
date. Chuck’s phone number and
email are: 361-729-9314 – email naiser@dbstech.com.
